On March 31, 2025, Vincent M. Oddo, the Managing Partner of PointFour Capital and President & CEO of Clarion Communications, had the privilege of serving as a guest lecturer for 60+ graduate students at Long Island University’s (LIU) School of Business, his alma mater. The lecture was moderated by Sean T. Collins, Major Gifts Officer in the Development division at LIU, and focused on Mr. Oddo's education and career journey, offering valuable lessons to the next generation of business leaders.
During the session, Mr. Oddo shared his personal story, covering his experiences as a corporate employee, entrepreneur, and investor. He discussed the trends that have shaped his success, as well as the challenges he’s faced along the way. Drawing from his extensive career, Mr. Oddo outlined the current investment philosophy guiding PointFour Capital and Clarion Communications, touching on strategies that have fostered growth, resilience, and long-term success at the companies he leads.
The event also included a dynamic, 45-minute Q&A session, where students had the opportunity to engage directly with Mr. Oddo. His thoughtful responses sparked meaningful conversations about career development, business strategy, and the broader landscape of the corporate world. The graduate students attending were enrolled in courses such as Strategic Management Capstone, Data Privacy/Regulatory Compliance, and Corporate Financial Management. These courses emphasize the application of business principles in real-world scenarios, offering students an invaluable chance to learn from industry experts like Mr. Oddo.
Reflecting on the experience, Mr. Oddo shared his gratitude for the opportunity, stating, "It was an honor to speak to such a talented and motivated group of graduate students at LIU. Our discussions about education and career paths focused on a holistic approach to education and career planning, emphasizing the importance of individual values, meaningful purpose in work, and sustainable long-term success.”
This event was an inspiring reminder of the importance of mentorship and knowledge sharing as we continue to shape the leaders of tomorrow.
